Saturday Update.

(Yes, I am aware this is a day late .. so shoot me! :) )

Firstly, I weighed myself on Saturday morning, and my weight was 186.2lb, pretty chuffed with that.  Down from 190.6lb the week before (4.4lb lost) which is pretty cool, and should thankfully get me back on track after my half a pound loss the week before.  Still a ways to go to the goal weight of 168lb but i'm getting there slowly slowly catchhy monkey.

Saturday was also a day of running.  We had a slightly reduced extras session (5 miles for us, whilst the others did the full thing) as we had to get back to ParkRun to get our unofficial pacer bibs.  I was pacing the 24 minutes and I must admit to feeling pretty nervous, not for the time as I was pretty certain I could do that.  It was more the fact that people were possibly depending on me to get them round in that time and it added extra pressure on me to try and get my splits and pacing right (which is something I cannot do).

Anyway, I went round in a watch time of 23:34, which was way too quick for a 24 minute pacer and I was kinda feeling a bit down about it, but it seems that my watch had one of its days of doing random things and even though I started it on the hooter, and that was the time it measured, the official time came in and I was actually finished in 23:50 which is exactly what I was aiming for.  Its very rare that you are normally happy to see a slower official time come in on ParkRun but this was one of those times :).  Mrs Slick was pacing the 30 minuters and she had a whole crowd of people with her and there were a lot of PB's at ParkRun so hopefully we had some input in to that.

Thanks to @tonydianenorton for sorting it and congrats to all the @teamvprc runners who ran, but more thanks to those who came and supported us at our local ParkRun. 👍

Monday's Social Running with VPRC

Tonight was the Monday evening social run hosted by VPRC and the route was the Sankey Valley Loop.  Our latest C25k graduates also joined in on the 5k option but it was the full 10k option for me.

I left the house early after preparing and cooking tea for us both, and passed Mrs Slick on her way to the house from work.  She'd had a bit of a day so was grateful to get home, eat tea and watch the Villa on the Tele.  I, on the other hand, set off to the park early to fit in a sneaky freedom ParkRun before the main social run.  I managed the course in 24:01 so its looking positive for the pacer event this weekend at Warrington ParkRun.

We all set off together on the social run and after about 2 miles the 5k group split off and headed back to the park.  The rest of us carried on.  It was great to see Tony back out after his Achilles issues and we had a few new faces join us as well which is always nice.  Kev took some group photos of us and if I remember i'll upload them to this story later.

I heated my tea up when I got home and it was lovely (pasta carbonara by the hairy dieters, yum).  A shower and I was in bed.  Great evening.

Weekend running

Managed to get out running this weekend which was good.  Mrs Slick was home yesterday so we got to go to both the VPRC extras and Warrington ParkRun together.

Extras was pretty normal, we did the Grappenhall Walled Garden route which was good.  Good prep for EHM in 6 weeks time.

ParkRun was good as I was helping Claire to try and get round in 32 minutes which is a fair old lick of speed for her.  She didn't make it but it wasn't for a lack of trying, she was totally committed and she finished only just behind at 32:53 which is still great and almost 5 minutes faster than her previous ParkRun.  The only other thing of note is that Kim fell over, broke her finger and carried on running!  What a trooper.  Mrs Slick also helped get Becky round her first ever ParkRun as well.

The rest of the day we spent doing chores and having a lovely time in Stockton Heath just having a mooch around the shops and just chilling out.  Note, the Bakewell Tart in Costa is absolutely delicious.

Today, as Mrs Slick is at work, I went to help support the VPRC C25k runners as they took on Week 6, run 1 in the current 9 week plan.  We strayed a bit far from the park on our run / walk and as a result we missed the main RunGeek social run (I'm guessing that a lot of people there wanted to get home quick to get to Bolton for the Challenge Cup Semi Final against Leeds today) so we (Becky, Nikki, Kev and myself) decided to do our own Not quite RunGeek Social 5k run.

On my way home from the Not quite RunGeek Social run, I popped in to Sports Direct to pick up my new trainers.  Mrs Slick swears by her Adidas Galaxy Trail shoes so i've taken the plunge and bought myself a pair to try (and picked her up a spare pair as well).  I can use a pair of trail runners to death in about 5 / 6 months and once we start to hit the Dark Run trails in September I'll be running in pretty much trail shoes until April next year so if these are any cop, I may be switching from my go-to brand of New Balance to Adidas if I like them so lets see how they go.

I've washed both cars as well now i'm home and after a shower i'm currently sat on the couch watching Catalan's absolutely demolish the league winners St Helens in the Challenge Cup Final, waiting for the main game which is Warrington Wolves vs Leeds Rhino's.  I fully admit I am an armchair supporter of Rugby League, and I don't understand all the rules but I do enjoy watching the games and especially if they contain my local team.

Weight update - 4th August

Weighed myself yesterday, now 190.6lbs.  Happy with that. Considering I didn't run since Sunday and didn't manage to make it to the gym either.

For info, here is a graph of my weight over the last year, as you can see i have basically been putting weight on apart from times when I have absolutely been on it and watching what I eat.  As soon as I stop, the weight comes back on.

Wednesday, 1 August 2018

So, I log my weight in MyFitnessPal every Saturday when I wake up (when I remember), and as mentioned in my site intro text I am trying to get my weight down to 12 stone (168 lb, 76,2 kg).

I am currently 13st 9.2 lb (191.2 lb, 86.7 kg).

I have been just below 12 stone for about a week back around a year ago so I know I can do it, I just need to do it, and stick to it this time.

I've been losing about 2 lb a week for the last two weeks, so hopefully it will just continue for the next 11 weeks and I should hopefully be down to that golden weight. :)

Let's see if this works.

So, i've decided to give blogging a go again.  I've not really blogged in about 8 years or so I think.

Lets see how long this lasts for :)
